In July of 2019, a very good friend’s daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes right after her 11th birthday. It was a shock, completely unexpected. I was amazed at how my friend, her daughter and family, handled it. But it is life-changing, and quite a challenge, to put it mildly. During October 2019, that friend celebrated a milestone birthday and also organized a team to walk in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) One Walk®. In honor of my friend’s birthday, for the month of October I donated the proceeds from macaron orders to JDRF. I also gave macaron 6-packs (pictured above, apple cinnamon, pumpkin spice, and chocolate) to anyone who donated to JDRF. As a last push, at the very end of the month, I offered "Monster Mac" 3-packs for Halloween, and drove around and personally delivered them. That was a TON of work that month, but it paid off.
$660 raised, plus $30 from an August donation, for a total of $690 ✅
From funding innovative research to advocating for government action to providing a support structure for our community, no other organization does more to fight type 1 diabetes (T1D) than JDRF.
